In the Viriela community of Pebane District, Zambezia Province, Mozambique, a new school building with orange-and-blue walls and a striking green roof has officially been put into service. With five classrooms, one administrative office and 100 sets of desks and chairs all in place, the new facility can accommodate up to 300 students, offering children in the community a spacious and bright learning environment.
The project was funded and constructed by Shuang Long, Lda., a subsidiary of Hainan Zirconium Titanium Resources Holding Group Co., Ltd., a Chinese mining enterprise. The school was officially inaugurated in early August 2026. Cássimo Manuel Jamal, Administrator of Pebane District, district education officials and representatives of Shuang Long, Lda. attended the inauguration ceremony.
Laying Every Brick to Build New Spaces for Learning
Inside the new campus, large windows let in plenty of natural light, the floors are smooth, and blackboards, desks and chairs are neatly in place. The spacious and well-lit classrooms provide children with improved learning conditions for reading, writing and learning every day.
The 100 sets of desks and chairs were delivered together with the school building, and all five classrooms and the administrative office are fully ready for use. Children now have a stable place to study close to home, and the conditions for local schooling have been substantially improved.

The inauguration ceremony also highlighted the efforts to prevent early marriage early marriage and support for girls’ education. Education lets children see a wider world and provides important support for girls to enter the classroom, stay in school and broaden their paths to growth. Built in the community, the school brings the classroom closer to children, giving more children access to nearby basic education.
One bright classroom after another and rows of neatly arranged desks and chairs bear witness to children’s daily reading and writing, and carry families’ hopes for the next generation. Every improvement in schooling conditions makes children’s path to learning more solid, while every lesson learned in the classroom helps build a stronger future for the community.
